Matt Richey

For as long as I can remember, music has been a driving force in my life. I don’t necessarily love a certain type of music, or a certain song, or certain instrument; I love….music. I have been a part of several bands (symphonic, marching, rock, worship, etc), choirs, musicals, playing all the instruments I can learn (or try). I also have a bachelor’s degree in Music with Vocal Performance emphasis from California Baptist University.

I’ve had the privilege of playing guitar on the Sandals Worship Team for about three years now, and have been organizing and running rehearsals, planning and leading auditions, and choosing songs for the Adult Services for about one year. It is such an amazing blessing to stand in the gap week after week, being a part of the unseen spiritual battle that occurs, as well as being behind the scenes and seeing how the music with flow with and connect to each other.

Because I love music so much, I am constantly aware that our musical offering to God should be our best. It’s so cool to see the ministry grow in number and in excellence. I can’t wait to see where God takes us as we explore what it means to be real in our music!

My wife, Brittany, and I are passionate about seeing God put on display in our music and in our lives. I enjoy talking comic books, movies (I quote them often), and The Office.
